This scam involves automated calls that target unsuspecting users, urging them to activate OTP (One-Time Password) on their cell phones. # Automated Calls in Seconds:

In the figure below, we can see a call came from a number at 3:44 a.m. If you look at the missed call, there are 27 missed calls in the span of 20 minutes. The automated call sounds like someone tried to access your Amazon account.

Upon answering the automated call, victims are informed about alleged suspicious activity on their Amazon account. To resolve the issue and protect their account, scammers instruct victims to activate OTP on their cell phones. OTP is typically used as an additional security layer to verify transactions or access specific services. In this case, scammers exploit OTP by misleading users into believing they are securing their Amazon account.

# How to Protect Yourself:

Verify Before Acting: Always verify the authenticity of an automated call claiming to be from Amazon. Independently contact Amazon's official customer support through verified channels to confirm any suspicious account activity.

Avoid Sharing Sensitive Information: Refrain from sharing personal or financial information over the phone, especially in response to unsolicited calls. Legitimate companies like Amazon will never ask for sensitive details in this manner.
